Hi, I’m Julene Cole, owner of Learning Partner Tutoring. Being a reading specialist allows me to pursue a personal passion: helping struggling students get the support they need to grow their skills in reading and spelling. I love my job!
I am a Certified Barton Tutor, have a certificate in Orton-Gillingham methods for Decoding/Encoding from Michigan Dyslexia Institute, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Walla Walla University.
I am a mom of 3 young adult children, and live with my husband, Dan, in the Wenatchee Valley of Washington State. We particularly enjoy outdoor activities with family and friends–like snowshoeing and downhill skiing in winter, and hiking and river floating in the summer.

Julene is absolutely wonderful and literally a God-send. We knew that our daughter was dyslexic, but there was a lot we didn’t know about dyslexia and how the dyslexic brain works. Julene provided us with many great resources and introduced us to the Barton Program. We finally were able to thoroughly understand our homeschool struggles and realize that we weren’t just “doing it wrong” nor was there anything “wrong” with our daughter. Understanding dyslexia gave our daughter a new-found confidence and she fully embraced her unique brain and perspective on the world. Through this process we also discovered that my husband was dyslexic and it shed light on his past struggles with school. If it wasn’t for Julene and the Barton Program, I believe we would still be floundering in our efforts to do school.
